Ghandi and Paris Hilton
Note to all the readers: I appreciate you guys reading my blog. It doesn’t mean that I don’t reply to your comments means I don’t value your readership. In fact your comments encourage me to get off my lazy ass and put up something here.
Thanks people!
Once in a while, I do try to delve into realities of this world by reading non-fictions. I take my toes out and dip into the global pond to gauge political/economics/social/cultural temperature, but each time the chill shrivels my balls, and I retreat to my cozy fantasy land—reading comics or fictions. Sometime, you wonder how smart people are amazingly dumb. I guess; their passion turns into conviction, and conviction into blindness. And, they start flying like a bat with no vision, but only with an acoustic sense of reverberating adulations mostly from groups/lobbies that are at benefits from their theories that they espouse. A good example would be Global Warming Deniers, who are supported by Christian Right, what would they care for this world when they are going to the next one in the day of rapture? What to talk about, crazy nuts (children of Jesus, mostly the white ones residing in North America), but there are few genuine scientists who doubt the inferring data of impending Global Warming disaster on the ground of science, but sadly most of them are in the pay roll of Oil companies. But today, I am going to pick on one particular blind bat—Tom Friedman—the author of best selling novel ‘The World Is Flat,’ who is also a columnist for the New York Times—the poster boy of ‘Free Market’ to throw rocks at by the Left (I am taking about economical left, not the liberals nuts, when it comes to national interest of America, there is no Left no Right, it’s just about their comfort/status quo. They stand left or right only on the issues like: who fucks your ass, or whose ass you fuck aka gay rights, or on choice to life, issues which don’t concern rest of the world, I am talking about non-Abrahamic world. Unlike you getting castrated on groping women’s ass in some local market in Afghanistan. By that measure, I guess most of the males traveling in Ktm. bus would be castrated. This argument doesn’t even make sense. Crazy me had to babble something. Anyway, to tie it together, it doesn’t mean that we are morally better off than anyone of them, infact, we shine in some other stupid issues like: eating COW, my favorite animal to this day.) After reading quarter of the book, I just got disgusted by his preaching of the mighty Capitalism and Free Market, I just threw the book away. I couldn’t stand his canonical claim that there is no social/economical problem that can’t be solved by GREED. Let me be clear here to my readers that I am not a Marxist, might have a flavor of socialism but not of Ghadhinian type, more of capitalist-socialist, something like a child conceived by ascetic Ghandi fucking decadent Paris Hilton. My read was all fine until I reached the chapters dealing with India. His claims on how great the new
India is doing since a whole middle class is moving a notch up in the social ladder is pretty myopic. Nonetheless, his claims are very true, middle class access to service sectors at global market has indeed made possible the life style which was unthinkable in Nehruian socialist structure just a decade and half ago. A surge of economic growth almost by 8% every year trailing
China, and a sheer econometrics favoring China and India at present suggest that these two would emerge as global economic giants. May be may be not, but it’s more likely than not. But, Friedman miserably fails to point out that the same surge in the economic growth in
India has not been enjoyed by the other 50% of the population who are below the poverty line. The benefits haven’t trickled down. Obviously, Indian Gov. policies are at more fault than the Friedman’s linear observation. His analysis are very astute and most of the time correct (well, I am not an economist to make that judgment, but who cares, this is my blog, so I am the all mighty), but to espouse that all the miseries of Third World can be alleviated if not completely eliminated through the right tools of Capitalism is tad ignorant/arrogant. Well, India might emerge out to be a roaring tiger with such a pace of economic growth, but with such a biased modal of resource distribution, it would be an ailing tiger, one Dharmendra would beat up in his every movie. Any Nepali would know this better than Tom Friedman with our own Maoists decade long insurgency. Another thing that got on my nerve is: he almost manages to come out as a humanitarian/egalitarian global citizen, preaching from the pedestal of American centric global views. Not his fault at all, from such a dizzying height no one can see the abject poverty in India for that matter anywhere else.
Ghandhi fucking Paris Hilton! Lucky dog. No wonder India is the most populous.
mere case of highest probability in the most populous country.
does this make anysense?
Miss VOices is ubiquitous. You are here too!

How u get exact words like this to express yourself amazes me dude!! Well I myself think a complete extremities never works.Be it communism or Capitalism! The Country like nepal where majority of people are under the line of poverty needs socialism than the capitalism; Capitalism increasing the gap between the poor and rich even more. The matter of fact is do we really have that economic capacity for the socialism?? If not then the country is surely doomed and conflict will never end.
I agree with Juggy. Hardcore communism is not suitable for Nepal neither is capitalism. By saying so I am not advocating for A-ma-lay sort of hypocrisy.
Yes, its your blog and you are the all mighty.
You have correctly pointed out tomorrow’s India as ailing tiger. Tiger but ill. Thousands of millionaires and
millions of poverty-stricken…
I shall stop now. I am green at economics in fact. So.
Do you suggest me to read Tom Friedman, Gols?
Recently I happened upon an old entry of an American chick. (http://luckyrenee.wordpress.com/2005/02/
09/socialism/) I want to recall what she writes there:
“I hate socialism. It’s like being friends with your ex: it’s a thoughtful theory, but in practice it just makes you want to kill yourself.”
You guys may love to read her. I suggest you to.. .
Well it is preety impressive how you have put your thoughts .
“India has not been enjoyed by the other 50% of the population who are below the poverty line.”
Indeed the resource distribution is baised and india is ” A RICH COUNTRY WITH POOR PEOPLES “
To everyone
Thanks guys!
