JPT–> Je Paye Tai

Like any potent medicine comes with an expiration date, I guess, so is the case with my blogging, at that my blogging wasn’t in any way potent in whatever sense that may be. I have found ranting without any objective and goals is pretty hard to keep up, there comes a time when you exhaust your rant, right now I am empty. I don’t have anything to say on anything.  On hindsight, I should have started my blogging to fight for the poor and trodden ones, or may be to save Nepal from whomever. That way it would have kept me on my toe, rather conscientious bite on my ass, if I slack many would die or sleep hungry and cold would keep me going. Alas! I am a selfish bastard, I rant and whine about my petty things.   But, I leave that to other Nepali bloggers, with more conscience, and with better moral compass. Sorry, dudes, my shoulders are already too full to share that burden of grieving Nepal in general grieving mankind. I am no Atlas. Please, find someone else.  It beats me, what’s with Nepali youths/bloggers and politics? Why such an affection towards politics? 80% of the Nepali blogs in the net are filled with rundown commentaries/analysis of Nepali politics, and most of them are alarmists. Some are fearful of Maoists, some are fearful about democrats, some are fearful about monarchy, and others are fearful about India. In short everyone is in fear. Don’t even talk about extent of their worry. Everyone is more worried than the next guy for the country, as if since they have started blogging they have turned gray from worry. How sad, they have mistaken their scribe with serious journalism. There is something called ACCOUNTABILITY, not just a killer word for scrabble, but does mean something serious. Worst of the bunch is, urbanites English speaking youths—expatriates or natives, polluting the internet with sound bytes (rather word bytes). If anyone were to gauge for patriotism, everyone would get Gorkha Dashin Bahu for shout fest. At times, their jingoism is nauseating; most of who profess undying love for motherland form offshore are not going to go back to Nepal unless they are tied to the keel of the boat and pushed through
Atlantic or Pacific. And those that are in Nepal, if presented with right opportunity, they would run out of country bare feet. Albeit, belonging to the most privileged group of the society, but always feel they have been oppressed/cheated/lied. How funny, most of us belong to the parents that oil the same machinery, no matter which one.   For urbanites, Kathmandu is Nepal. When 13,000 people died somewhere else Kathmandu Basi were mostly oblivious thus happy until the Maoist brought the war to their doors. When us, the English speaking people had to rub our shoulders in the gullies of Kathmandu with Maoists, over night we became oppressed. Wa re wa, Kathmandu Basi, where were you for last ten years? Conscience and moral duty of civil society my ass.   Ah! I don’t know how to conclude this write up, since I am not politically astute, I guess, I have wasted my time writing this particular piece. I have realized, I shouldn’t have tried writing it, since I have put some words together, I might as well post it.

    I like it. Everyone expects other one to be the Atlas. And I agree, bloggers need to have some accountability when they act self-appointed journalists.

    No No man!!
    There are freaking stalker bloggers to!! Freaks who shoot lovers in park and post video in their blog!! Freaks who have no idea they need to get whipped in their arse!!
    But anyways it is freedom of speech re! Only if they really know what it means!! Freakos!!

    If i say my few words to what you are writing here, HEY, you do convince me more than the political astute ones! Seriously!

    Every man lives on his own politics and beliefs/standards! While, journalism may be a major thing to enhance the society to urbanization, as they may say, it should be with enough justification, study and not just rants! I love reading some of them, some of the time, but NOT ALL THE TIME!

    Good to see , some genuine and authentic bloggers like you around!

    Cheers!

    Gols, you are back with bang! :P

    Though a blogger and (I) occassionally comment on contemporary politics, I really do not know why I have affection towards politics. But I guess it’s because politics has been affecting our day-to-day life in one way or another. (I consider myself a politically conscious individual.)
    >>Your university hasn no VC for an age, your academic schedule retarded thus and you lost a precious year for no reason because of politics.

    >> You could not show up on time in your first dating because of some chakkajam enforced by some political party for whatever reason…. :P

    Opportunism is global phenomenon, I guess. Not withstanding region and race, gender and age,….most of us are opportunists, I agree.

    Yes, jingoism sucks. It really sucks. Though they pretend to be very loyal and rebellious, for the jingoists, nation and nationality are limited only to tongue and ink. Not hard-nosed at all, they are but political baloneys
    .Had they been sapient, they would start to change themselves first to change their society and nation.

    Though some among us may disgree, we cannot run from social moral responsibility. We can be anarchist; we can speak and act against the established social dogmas. But again we cannot run away from the society
    and companionship. Can we?

    One can be oppurtunist and one can be sadist. But if he or she refrains from social moral responsibility, s/he will be left pained and alones sometime later. It was equally true for the Kathmanduites in the case you mentioned.

    By the way, if you have read Bertolt Brecht, you may rememeber one of his poems–I forgot the name, however. Gist is :

    I did not speak against the Nazis earlier when they attacked …….., Trade Union and Communists because I was not …….., communist and was not in trade union. They attacked me and there is no one left to speak for me.

    Voices,
    You remember this poem? Or if you find it in the Internet, do send me the link. Also to Gols. He will love to read it, I guess. :)

    Yes, parasites we have been. We expect others to be the Atlas. Atlas here means Host and we means parasites. To find excuses for oneself, it appears, has been an elementary traits for us.

    Yes, accountability is the most. But has anybody cared?

    Juggy,
    Yes I too saw a video of lovers in a park in one of the recently launched blogs. I take the post for breaching of freedom of speech. Who the heck are we to poke our nose into individuals’ personal life? Had they been public figures, my version could be different.
    You know why such blogs are mushrooming? I am not an exception but it’s the revenue.

    Wah!
    I wrote a comment comparable to your your entry in length.

    well, apparantly at least now there is an “association” for Nepali bloogers where such concerns can be raised? why the fuck do Nepalis have such a fondness for associations? (is “fondness” even a word??)

  8. Charitrawan on March 31, 2007

    When the Nazis came for the communists,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a communist.

    When they locked up the social democrats,
    I remained silent;
    I was not a social democrat.

    When they came for the trade unionists,
    I did not speak out;
    I was not a trade unionist.

    When they came for me,
    there was no one left to speak out.
    Original Translation
    Als die Nazis die Kommunisten holten,
    habe ich geschwiegen;
    ich war ja kein Kommunist.

    Als sie die Sozialdemokraten einsperrten,
    habe ich geschwiegen;
    ich war ja kein Sozialdemokrat.

    Als sie die Gewerkschafter holten,
    habe ich nicht protestiert;
    ich war ja kein Gewerkschafter.

    Als sie mich holten,
    gab es keinen mehr, der protestieren konnte.

    Charitrawan,
    There seems to be controversy as to who actually wrote it. Take a look at this:

    Twaaks,
    I think the association idea comes so that we can fight with each other!!Normally the idea of association is not bad if it is for protecting the rights of bloggers if oppressed for eg. in Iran and in China!! But in Nepal, the idea of association generates along with the political fight henceforth!Only if the idea of cheap politics stay out of these the “Association” name can survive else it would be another disassociation on name of “Association”! Just some mindless boggling of mine!! :D

    I was just meddling with you two’s dialogoue.

    yeha we are quiet obessed with poloitics and nepal must be a country having most polotically literate people in the world ( in a loose sense).

    i would agree with vashek that our obsession with polotics is the result of the fact that it very much infuences our day to day life .
