A Beautiful Poem
I had this DVD—Maine Ghandhi Ko Nahi Mara at my place, lying around for long long time. I am not a Ghandi’s fan, man who glorified poverty; made one billion people believe that it’s wonderful to be hungry and cold, and non-violence–the mighty political machete, a sweet deceit in a humble conceit.
***
I had decided not to watch it ever, Bollywood pseudo-intellectual on patriotism that abrasively turns into kitsch jingoism, spooks me. Bad taste of Gadar, Rang De Basanti and likes still lingers. I would rather watch stupid partially naked-partially bald Salman Khan—no—good—actor than Hindi cinema with message.
***
But, boredom almighty, I had to give up my stance. This evening I had nothing to do, insanity due to lack of activities, I was about to pull my hair out and chew them. So, I said to myself, “Golay beta, …Ghandi Ko Nahi Mara…dekh le, before boredom ke mare tum marjawoge.”
***
It turned out to be pretty good, besides mumbo jumbo do goodies Ghandi message at the end. What struck me was the recital of the poem at the end, it was beautiful.
***
So, I googled it, and learned that it was written by, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, yes, father of the Bachcha—Amitabh.
***
Someone had the poem in Hindi Roman, below is my feeble attempt to convert it in Hindi, using Nepali Unicode Converter. Pardon, my lack of Hindi.

Enjoy!

लहरो से डर कर।। नाव पार नही होती नन्हि चिटी जब दाना लेकर चल्ति है।। डुब्किया सिन्धु मे गोतखोर लगाता है।। असफल्ता।। ———————————————-By Harivanshrai Bachhan |
Amitabh Bachhan ka baap?
He was a great poet. I like his verses.
That one “Madhushala” is my best.
In it, he wrote about madhu (wine)but he was a teetotaler.

Hmmm..seems like what I wrote was not all posted..:S
But those lines impressed my mind!!
Morever like a inspiration for taking failures too as something u learn in life!!
Hope U will delete the earlier post!!..
well.. success n failure!!! i think one shouldnt worry too much abt it. just live in the moment! as long as u can convince urself to be happy with what u got, in other words be “CONTENT”, nothing else matters………
the poem was good, i do admire it! the last part that Juggy added was the best part I think.
Hope you guys aren’t too skeptical about my lousy perspective on life! Feel free to comment…
Bapu keh hatma ko ab shanti milgai.
I agree with you on BAPU(Matmah Gandhi) glorifying poverty. But I respect him for his stubbornness.
Hmmm…

I am not juxtaposing success and failures!!!
Sometimes u feel a void inside you and u feel like life is has just stopped rite there!!! No tears no sorrow; no joy no passion!! And u learn at the right moment that the u have to make something about the void within you!!…Voila!! U learn something!!
And yeah failures and Success are parts of life!! U just have to live the moment!! I agree!!..
I am living my moments; are u??..
Juggy
Yes i am, if i wasn’t i would be saying that!!!….for me that that void feeling is yet to come… I can’t debate on it!
Really it’s very nice poem by Harivansham Rai Bachhan.
–>Yes i am, if i wasn’t i would be saying that!!!
I am happy you are!!!…
But I was putting that as a common question u know!!
I hope u understand what I am saying!
Juggy,
i meant “if iwasnt i wouldn’t be saying that!” and yeah i do understand..
i hope the emptiness is soon filled in with something meaningful. good luck!
